I joined the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University in 2015. Prior to this, I was at Northumbria University for 9 years where I led the Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism Research Group in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and was also the Associate Director of the Brain, Performance and Nutrition Research Centre. I completed my PhD in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Loughborough University under the supervision of Professor Clyde Williams in 2005. Following this, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nottingham.
My research focuses on nutritional interventions to maximise exercise recovery and the effects of exercise and nutritional interventions on appetite regulation and metabolism. I have a particular interest in the role of milk and milk proteins in exercise nutrition and how they can influence metabolism and energy balance.
