Eric C. McCreath

Eric McCreath completed his Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of New South Wales in machine learning. In 1999 Eric joined the Basser Department of Computer Science (now the School of Information Technologies) at Sydney University and then in 2001 he joined the Department of Computer Science (now the Research School of Computer Science) at the Australian National University.

Eric continues to hold a lecturing position at the ANU. He has had a number of research interests over the years including looking at how machine learning can be applied to help the organisation of email and the organisation of mobile phone menus.

More recently he has focused on Computer Systems, in particular looking at how to best deploy novel architectures, such as the cell processor or GPUs, for computationally intensive tasks.

Eric has an interest and passion for excellence in teaching and in 2011 he was awarded the Dean's Teaching award.
