Senior Lecturer in Acting for Stage and Screen, University of East London

Dr Evi Stamatiou is a practitioner-researcher of actor training. During her two decades of international experience as an actor and creative, she has won international awards and funding. She is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the MA/MFA Acting for Stage and Screen at the University of East London. She has a PhD in Actor Training and Direction from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is the chair of the Acting Program at the Association for Theater in Higher Education and a co-convener of the Performer Training Focus Group at the Theatre and Performance Research Association. She has published in academic books and journals. Her latest monograph Bourdieu in the Studio: Decolonising and decentering actor training through Ludic Activism was published by Routledge in 2023.
