Dr Folker Hanusch is Associate Professor and Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellow in Journalism at Queensland University of Technology. He worked as a print journalist for Australian and German-language newspapers before being awarded a PhD from the University of Queensland in 2006.

His research interests focus on the study of journalists' professional views, journalism education, Indigenous journalism, lifestyle journalism and the role the journalism plays in the coverage of human suffering.
