Forrest Lane is a professor of educational leadership and associate dean of graduate studies and research in the college of education at Sam Houston State University. He holds a M.S. in higher education administration and a Ph.D. in educational research from the University of North Texas. His research focuses on student learning and transition into college. His research has been published in outlets such as the Journal of College Student Development, Journal of College Student Retention, Educational Psychology, and the Community College Journal of Research and Practice. He is a past editor of the Journal of the First Year Experience and Students in Transition is an active member of the American Educational Research Association, Association for the Study of Higher Education, and National Organization of Student Success. He is also a Greater Texas Foundation Fellow and past-President the Southwest Educational Research Association (SERA).
