Francisco Gallegos

Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Wake Forest University

Francisco's research focuses on the nature of moods and the profound ways that moods influence us -- personally, socially, and politically. This research interest has taken him to Latin American philosophy, where he has found unique insights into the politics of moods. This is a central topic in his recent book, "The Disintegration of Community: On Jorge Portilla’s Social and Political Philosophy" coauthored by Carlos Sánchez and published by SUNY Press in October 2020.

Francisco was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and earned a B.A. in philosophy at the University of New Mexico in 2007. He earned a Ph.D. at Georgetown University in 2017, and has taught philosophy at Wake Forest University since 2018.
