François Couturier

François Couturier is a family physician with a general practice mostly oriented towards underserved populations in Montréal greater area. Dr Couturier has completed in 2006 a Diploma of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Master degree at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Titular Professor at the Family Medicine department of the University of Sherbrooke in Canada. He is deeply committed to Family medicine as a fundamental for any efficient health system, in rich countries as in low and middle income countries. From a regular participation since 1997 as a clinical supervisor in Africa emerged an in-deep comprehension of the determinant of health, diseases and health care in sub Saharan Africa.

This commitment has been channeled in actions leading to a broad partnership implementing DECLIC Family Medicine Mali Project and Project CLEFS a Family Medicine project centered on Women and girls unaddressed needs,

Dr Couturier was director for the Université of Sherbrooke of the DECLIC project (Développement de l'Enseignement CLlinique et Communautaire) and is now director for the Université of Sherbrooke of the project CLEFS(Centres Locaux de d'Enseignement pour des Femmes et des Filles en Santé ).
