Professor of Fungal Ecology, Aberystwyth University

Gareth Griffith is a professor of fungal ecology at Aberystwyth University. He specialises in the ecology of grassland fungi. His research interests also include fungal taxonomy and DNA barcoding, aerobiology, cacao pathology and silage microbiology.

Griffith is a member of the editorial boards for journals Fungal Ecology and Plant Pathology. He is also a member of the Conservation Committee of the Mycological Society of America and a past member of the Council of the British Mycological Society. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the British Mycological Society, Mycological Society of America, British Society for Plant Pathology and the Microbiology Society.
