Grahame has considerable experience of the commercial and the academic worlds. He has worked for and advised companies in Europe and Africa and taught management accounting in the UK and China. His extensive knowledge of accounting and business practices enables him to make his teaching is based on the real world.

Grahame is also interested in the use of IT for accounting education. He has integrated 'tools of the trade' such as Excel and Sage into his teaching to provide students with the skills for the modern business world, enhance the learning process and created computer-based learning materials and formative assessments to support student learning.

Grahame's research interests include the relevance and application of management accounting techniques for the modern business environment, the learning curve, application of IT for accounting education, research-teaching linkages.
