Hamzah Fansuri is a doctoral student at the Institute of Anthropology, Heidelberg University. A member of Muhammadiyah Deutschland e.V. based in Frankfurt. Research Fellow at Centre for Muhammadiyah Studies. He was graduated with a Master's degree in sociology at Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2012. His Master's thesis published by LP3ES entitled Sosiologi Indonesia: Diskursus Kekuasaan dan Reproduksi Pengetahuan (2015). Currently, he is working on identity and piety among urban Muslims in contemporary Indonesian Islam.
