My research interests and publications are in Old Norse language, literature and culture, particularly poetry, humour, and literary-legal relations. I am the Principal Investigator of an AHRC-funded Research Network 'Humours of the Past', which investigates humour across different historical periods. I am also Bibliography Editor (and former Research Associate) on the international editing project Skaldic Poetry of the Scandinavian Middle Ages, an Honorary Associate of the Medieval and Early Modern Centre, University of Sydney, a council member of the Viking Society for Northern Research, and am on the steering group of History UK.
