Hans Peter Schmitz

I do research on international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and global advocacy focused on human rights, global health, and greater social or economic equity. I am the co-founder and former Research Director of the Transnational NGO Initiative at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs/Syracuse University. I am the co-author of 'Between Power and Irrelevance: The Future of Transnational NGOs' (Oxford University Press, 2020), and the author of 'Transnational Mobilization and Domestic Regime Change: Africa in Comparative Perspective' (Palgrave MacMillan, 2006). My publications have also appeared in Comparative Politics, Health Policy and Planning, Human Rights Quarterly, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Public Administration Review, and Review of International Studies.
