Associate professor Hilde Tubex is the Director of Criminology at the Law School of the University of Western Australia (UWA). Her areas of expertise are comparative criminology and penal policy, Indigenous peoples and the criminal justice system, criminalised women and parole. After migrating to Australia in 2007, she worked for four years at the Department of Corrective Services in Western Australia as Team Leader Research and Evaluation. Since she resumed her academic career at UWA in 2011, she has been involved in several research projects research projects in this field, including an ARC Future Fellowship investigating penal cultures in Australian jurisdictions, an ARC Linkage Project on risk assessment of Aboriginal sex offenders in Australia, a project funded by the Criminology Research Council on building effective throughcare strategies for Indigenous offenders and a project funded by the Indigenous Justice Research Program about Indigenous peoples’ experiences with the criminal justice system.
