J. Michael Hogan is Liberal Arts Research Professor and Director of the Center for Democratic Deliberation at the Pennsylvania State University. He has served as a scholarly advisor to the National Constitution Center and is co-director of Voices of Democracy, an NEH-funded online curriculum resource. Hogan is the author, coauthor, or editor of seven books and more than fifty articles, book chapters, and reviews. He has won a number of scholarly awards, including the National Communication Association’s Distinguished Scholar Award. Before moving to Penn State in 1997, he taught at the University of Virginia, Indiana University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
