I was a logistician for MSF before returning to university to try to understand the social, political, organisational and cultural structures that contribute towards the success or failure of health projects. My DPhil research sought to understand New Public Management in Ethiopia's hospitals, drawing on long form interviews describing patients' health seeking journeys. More recently, I have investigated the coping methods of nurses in Nairobi, infection control practices across Kenya's hospitals, and new ways to increase access to effective diagnostics.
