Dr James Esson is a geographer in the Department of Geography and Environment at Loughborough University. His research is broadly located within the fields of critical development studies and population geography, with a focus on Africa. Dr Esson’s research has received funding from the Economic and Social Research Council, the Department for International Development (UK), the British Academy and UNICEF. This funding has informed outputs in international peer reviewed journals, edited collections, and a research monograph on African football migration: Aspirations, experiences and trajectories.
