My research focus has included a wide range of practical, lab-based microbiology (bacteriology, virology, phycology and molecular biology), in addition to the various methods involved with communicating and educating microbiology. This includes a variety of intervention types, including the development, trialling, evaluation and dissemination of educational materials, public awareness/engagement and leading multidisciplinary teams to develop new, innovative and creative approaches to science communication and the issues the field hopes to address.
