Adjunct Research Scientist, CSIRO

Dr Janet Gardner is an Adjunct Research Scientist with CSIRO Land & Water. Her current research is focused on the effects of climate change on the persistence of the Australian avifauna, especially for birds in the arid zone. She integrates museum-based studies, long-term bird banding data sets generated by citizen scientists, and targeted field-based research, working at a range of scales from local, within-population dynamics up to continental-wide comparisons of different species in different climatic regions and regimes. Increasingly she is working to apply her findings in practice, providing information for land management under climate change.
