Senior Lecturer in Volcanology and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, University of Liverpool

I am a volcanologist whose research combines field studies with analogue and numerical models to gain insight into the ascent and emplacement of magmas. I am particularly interested in the dynamics of magma propagation through the crust and their consequences for volcanic eruptions. I founded the University of Liverpool's MAGMA Lab for the study of volcanic plumbing systems in 2014.

I became a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow in 2020, leading the multidisciplinary project "Modelling Magma movement: linking indirect observations with dynamic processes". I am President of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth Interior (IAVCEI) Commission on Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing Systems and am Secretary of the UK's Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group. I am also Associate Editor for Frontiers in Earth Science (Petrology Section) and am on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research.

I am a keen advocate for raising awareness and developing policy related to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in UK volcanology, and am committed to creating and delivering outreach and public engagement activities and events in Geosciences through the GeoHub Liverpool website and YouTube Channel.
