Professor of International Law, University of Hull

Prof Jean Allain's archival research and legal analysis on the international abolition of slavery has been foundational to the law of modern slavery. He is Special Adviser to Anti-Slavery International, the world's oldest human rights organisation; Professor of Law at Monash University, Australia; Extraordinary Professor, University of Pretoria, South Africa; and Visiting Professor, Beijing Normal University, China. Prof Allain received his doctorate from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. During this period, he clerked for the first President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
