Senior Lecturer in Medical Genetics, Kingston University

Dr Jess Buxton is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Genetics at Kingston University London. Her scientific interests lie in understanding the contribution of genetic variation and genomic integrity to human disease. During her early career, she investigated the molecular pathology underlying the genetic conditions myotonic dystrophy and Angelman syndrome. More recently, she has worked on the identification of genetic and epigenetic factors associated with complex traits, particularly obesity and telomere length - an indicator of cellular ageing and an independent risk factor for age-related metabolic dysfunction.
