Teenager Jessica Fox outgunned her more experienced rivals to secure the only Australian spot available for women in slalom at the London Games. She was the highest ranked Australian female across the three selection events in early 2012.

Fox produced a break out year in 2010 surprising many with a 5th place finish at Worlds on debut. She also competed at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 in Singapore, winning gold for Australia in the K1.

In 2011 Fox secured Australia a women's K1 Olympic quota when she placed 19th at the World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. She also combined with her NSWIS teammate Rosalyn Lawrence and paddler Leanne Guinea to win the women's C1 team gold at the 2011 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Slovakia. She won back-to-back C1 gold medals at World Cups 2 and 3.
In addition to conquering the world in slalom, Fox completed her high school studies in 2011, topping the state (NSW) in PDHPE. Born in Marseille, France, Fox also scored highly in French as well as maths and English.
