I am a lawyer and a sociologist whose research focuses on the sociolegal construction of consent and choice. My first book, Consensual Violence, compares contact sports and S&M as cases where the law treats consent to be harmed differently. My current book project focuses on physician-assisted death in the United States and Switzerland.
