Professor and Holder of the South African Research Chair in Social Policy, University of South Africa

Jimi Adesina is a Professor of Sociology and holds the South African Research Chair in Social Policy at the College of Graduate Studies, University of South Africa (UNISA). In 2005, he was elected to the Academy of Science of South Africa. Before moving to UNISA, he was Professor of Sociology at Rhodes University and the University of the Western Cape. From 2002 to 2008 he served on the Executive Committee of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA). From 2004 to 2006 he was president of the South African Sociological Association.
