Deputy Director of the Centre for Social Work Research, University of East London

Dr Jo Finch is currently Reader in Social Work, Course Lead - Professional Doctorate in Social Work, and Deputy Director of the Centre for Social Work Research. Jo has published extensively on the issue of assessing students in practice learning settings and is the author of the "Supprting Struggling Students on Placement: A Practical Guide" (2017, Policy Press). Jo is a co-author of "SHARE:A New Model for Social Work (2018, Kirwin-Maclean publishers).

Jo previously worked at Havering College of Further and Higher Education, from 2002 to 2010 as a Curriculum Manager on the BA (Hons) Social Work and post qualifying awards before moving to UEL in February 2010. Jo has held a number of programme leaderships roles since being at UEL, which include the BA (Hs) Social Car (distance learning), MA Social Work and the PGDIP, Step up to Social work

Before becoming a lecturer, Jo worked as a children and families social worker, prctice educator and play therapist in the statutory and voluntary sectors.
