Professor of Politics, University of Leeds

I received my PhD from the European University Institute, Florence, in 1998, before taking up post at the University of Salford. In 2002-3, I was Visiting CNRS Research Fellow at the CIDSP, University of Grenoble.

From 2000-06, I directed the Extreme Right Electorates and Party Success (EREPS) research network, funded by CNRS and British Academy.

From 2006 to 2011, I was editor of the Hansard scholarly journal, Parliamentary Affairs. I am currently the series editor of the French Politics, Society and Culture series published by Palgrave-Macmillan.

In 2015, I worked on the ESRC-funded Northern Ireland General Election Study. I am currently UK lead on a three-year ORA-ESRC project on the European radical right.
