I have worked on membranes all my life, starting with my PhD on plant cell membranes. My major interest has been the membranes of parasites and the membranes of some of these are very unusual. The most strange is the double membrane of Schistosoma mansoni a worm which causes bilharzia (schistosomiasis). I also have an interest in work on virus membranes.
