John M.T. Balmer

John M.T. Balmer is quondam Professor of Corporate Marketing at Brunel University Business School, Brunel University London.

He is recognised as one of the world's top 2% of influential scholars (in a study by Stanford University). Sometimes regarded as the ‘Father’ of the corporate brand concept, he also pioneered the corporate marketing, monarchical marketing and co-developed the corporate heritage brand notion, He penned cornerstone articles in all the above areas.

In 1999 he was appointed to his first personal chair in corporate identity at Bradford School of Management and then conferred a personal chair at corporate brand/identity management at the same school. In 2007 he was given a personal chair in corporate marketing at Brunel University London. His three chair appointments are believed to be the first of their kind anywhere in the world.

Dr Balmer has published in many leading journals including California Management Review, Journal of Business Research, British Journal of Management, European Journal of Marketing, Long Range Planning, Journal of Business Ethics etc. He is Chairman of the Board of Senior Consultant Editors of the Journal of Brand Management.
