Associate professor, Victoria University

John is currently Head of Curriculum in Victoria University's First Year College, as such he has been instrumentally involved in the design, development and roll out of VU's Australian-First Block Model. He has taught on The Block at VU and at Quest University in Canada.

John's current research interests lie in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Prior to this, his research investigated the intersection of digital interactivity and narrative. He has presented several conference papers and has completed a PhD, on this subject.

John has worked as a freelance writer for many publications and organisations including The Age, The Western Times, and the ABC. He has had children's plays commissioned by the Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne Planetarium, and has been the recipient of several script development grants from The ABC and Film Vic.

John spent two years as media manager at the Western Bulldogs during which time the cub won the AFL Media Association Award for Club with the Best Media Relations. His first novel, Spincycle, was published in 2012 by Vulgar Press and was one of the Top Ten best sellers at that year's Melbourne Writers Festival.
