Jonathan Chaplin

Member, Divinity Faculty, University of Cambridge

Jonathan Chaplin is a member of the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge University, where he supervises BA, MA and PhD theses and serves as an internal PhD examiner. He is also an independent researcher and writer and was Director of the Kirby Laing Institute for Christian Ethics, an independent research institute in Cambridge, until 2017. He is a Theos Research Associate, an Adjunct Faculty member of the Institute for Christian Studies (an affiliate of the Toronto School of Theology, University of Toronto), and a Senior Fellow at Cardus, a Canadian faith-based think tank. His latest books are In Search of Good Energy Policy (co-editor) (Cambridge University Press 2019), and God and the EU: Faith in the European Project (co-editor) (Routledge 2016). He has written widely on political theology, addressing issues such as state and civil society, liberalism and public reason, pluralism and multiculturalism, environmental political theology, and Brexit.
