Dr. Scalia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, CO, specializing in geoenvironmental and geotechnical engineering. He is a huge soil nerd. His areas of research and teaching include stewardship of tailings and mine waste, engineered systems to protect the environment, and the movement of water and contaminants in engineered and natural systems. He is a founding member and CSU Site Director of the Tailings Center.
