Honorary Fellow of the School of Languages and Linguistics, The University of Melbourne

Judith Armstrong grew up in Melbourne. After marriage and the birth of two children, she did a PhD and taught Russian literature and culture at the University of Melbourne, where she published five academic books. The last of these, The Christesen Romance, was short–listed for the Age Book of the Year.

She writes fiction, life-stories, articles and reviews. Her last novel was War and Peace and Sonya (Pier 9, 2011); she is currently writing a biographical study of Dymphna Clark. Her most recent work is a play, Chekhov and The Lady.
