Julie Cristello

Julie Cristello, MS is a doctoral candidate at Florida International University (FIU). She has developed a program of research that focuses on the ways in which online and offline socialization contexts influence adolescent substance use. During her graduate training, she completed a predoctoral fellowship on a T32 funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, where she obtained advanced training in adolescent substance use disorders and co-occurring mental and behavioral disorders. Her dissertation, which is funded by an F31 Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from NIDA, examines associations between social media content and offline alcohol and drug use using novel methodological approaches. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science. Julie has been recognized as an Emerging Scholar by the Society for Research on Adolescence and recently received the Outstanding Student Achievement Award from FIU. She has also served in multiple leadership roles including the Student Representative on the Executive Board for APA Division 50 (Society of Addiction Psychology) and as the Clinical Science Representative on APA’s Science Student Council.
