Julie leads the award-winning Magazine Journalism postgraduate programme at Nottingham Trent University. She teaches magazine writing, editing and production skills for digital and print.
Her key areas of interest as a lecturer are digital/mobile technology and social media and the postgraduate programme has these elements at its heart. She also runs a specialist strand on the business of magazines which explores the economics and emerging trends of publishing in the 21st century.
Julie has been a journalist for 25 years, having begun her career in local newspapers, and her main role outside NTU is as a freelance editor and writer. She is now a specialist writer on education but in the past has contributed to a wide array of magazines and newspapers, including The Guardian, Express, Independent, Sunday Mirror, Radio Times, TV Times, Woman and Home, New Statesman, Best, TV Choice, Your Horse and even Birdwatching.
