After a PhD in metagenomics from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 2006, Julie Robidart's research focus has been to better measure and understand marine life. She has led the development of technologies, methodologies and tools for more informative and larger scale environmental omics. in the surface ocean and the deep sea. Her career has taken her to Harvard University, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, UC Santa Cruz (US), and the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (UK) where she was the Head of Ocean Technology and Engineering. She has developed and patented deployable technologies and applied novel 'omics tools to gain new knowledge of marine organisms, and she continues on this trajectory with her move to Australia in 2022.
