Karl Pauw, a South African national, joined IFPRI in June 2009. He is currently the country program leader of IFPRI's Malawi Strategy Support Program (MaSSP) based in Lilongwe. His work involves research and policy analysis, technical assistance, and capacity building among policymakers, researchers, and students in the Malawian agricultural sector. His specific research interests include: development and agricultural policy analysis; microeconomic analyses of labor markets, poverty, welfare, and nutrition; CGE modeling and micro-simulation modeling; ex ante evaluation of distributional effects of macro- and micro-policies; and economic impacts and mitigation of climate change and extreme weather events.
