Kelly is a human geographer, with a background in psychology. Her research interests are international migration and settlement, population ageing and place attachment. She has a solid understanding of policy and social factors driving population change.

Kelly completed her PhD in 2010. She has since been active on numerous contract research projects related to migration and/or population ageing.
