Kieran J. Gething

PhD Candidate in Ecology, Nottingham Trent University

Kieran Gething is an ecologist who studies drying streams and ditches. Specifically, his research focuses on the aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates that use drying streams and ditches at different stages of their wet–dry cycle, with the aim of developing tools to monitor and assess ecosystem health.

Gething has been a PhD Candidate at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) since 2019, under the supervision of Prof. Rachel Stubbington (NTU) and Tim Sykes (Environment Agency). Before this, he completed an MSc in Environmental Monitoring at Loughborough University with research focusing on the impacts of pesticide pollution on aquatic invertebrates in large agricultural rivers.

Since 2021, Gething has been an Hourly Paid Lecturer in Environmental Sciences at NTU, contributing to teaching and assessment on the Principles of Environmental Science and Geographic Information Systems modules.
