Kirsten McEwan

I am a Researcher working in the South East Wales Trials Unit (SEWTU). In SEWTU I plan to work in a number of research areas including the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS), mental health, physical health, and health services research.

My research background is mental health and health services research, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of third-wave psychotherapeutic interventions such as Compassion-Focussed Therapies & Mindfulness-based stress reduction. Other areas of research are emotion processing and emotion-regulation assessed using a combination of self-report, cognitive (attentional biases) & physiological (cortisol, alpha amylase, heart rate variability, oxytocin) measures.
