Assistant Professor, Utrecht University School of Governance, Utrecht University

After finishing his doctoral research at the European University Institute in 2018, Koen Damhuis moved to Utrecht University where he became an assistant professor at the Utrecht School of Governance. In Utrecht, he currently teaches courses in philosophy of science and comparative politics.
Koen’s research focuses on dissatisfaction with and polarization within western democracies, especially with respect to the radical right. His work has appeared in journals such as West European Politics and Party Politics. Koen recently published the book Roads to the Radical Right (Oxford University Press), in which he discerns different forms of electoral support for radical right-wing parties in France and the Netherlands.
