Dr Bates is an experimental Neuroscientist, interested in the brain’s response to ageing, trauma and neurodegeneration. Her primary research field is the molecular biology of Alzheimer’s disease, though she also has an interest in brain plasticity and repair. Dr Bates has been involved in investigation of genetic and lifestyle-related disease risk factors for neurodegenerative disease in human populations.
