Senior Scientist, Earth and Space Research

Laurence ("Laurie") Padman is Vice President and a Senior Scientist at Earth Space Research. He received his Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Sydney in 1987, and then worked at Oregon State University until moving
to ESR in 1997. His research focuses on interactions between the polar oceans, sea ice and ice shelves, including ocean-forced thinning of Antarctica’s ice shelves and how tidal currents and turbulence affect Arctic sea ice.
