Lecturer in Computer Science, Swansea University

I’m a Lecturer in Computer Science at the Computational Foundry in Swansea University. Prior to this I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Information & Communication Studies at University College Dublin, and a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Nottingham. I am a co-founder of the Conversational User Interface (CUI) conference series.

My research examines people’s interactions with speech interfaces (e.g. Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri). I’m interested in many areas of speech interface interaction, including how design choices in language & voice affect people's perceptions, experiences and behaviours; understanding the concepts of trust and humanness in these interactions and examining how these technologies can be incorporated into healthcare and vehicles.
