PhD Candidate in Classics and Archaeology, The University of Melbourne

PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. My thesis is a cultural study of trees in Ancient Rome, providing an analysis of trees in Roman art, literature, mythology, and archaeology in order to convey their socio-cultural meaning and symbolic resonance from the time of the late Republic to early Empire. Equally, I will trace how trees came to be a signifier of elite status and engaged with as a symbol of an expanding Imperial power.
