Madeline Steiner

Postdoctoral Fellow of History, University of South Carolina

Madeline Steiner's work combines the history of the entertainment industry with the history of Gilded Age business and capitalism. Her dissertation was a study of the traveling amusement industry at the turn of the 20th century including circuses, minstrel shows, and Wild West shows. She explored how the owners and managers of these shows established business practices that were integral to the rise of the modern commercial entertainment industry in the United States.
