Mahdis Azarmandi

Mahdis is a Lecturer in the University of Canterbury School of Educational Studies and Leadership. Her research focus is on racism and anti-racism and how racism is produced in progressive social movements & spaces. Her doctoral thesis looked at anti-racism and colonial amnesia in Aotearoa New Zealand and Spain
Mahdis has taught in the United States, Germany and Denmark and has been involved in social justice organizing in Aotearoa New Zealand, Spain and Germany. Her research interests are racism and anti-racism, feminism, intersectionality & decolonization. Her most recent work has focused on the politics of memory, commemoration and colonial amnesia.
