Marc-William Palen

Dr. Marc-William Palen is a historian at the University of Exeter. His book, The 'Conspiracy' of Free Trade: The Anglo-American Struggle Over Empire and Economic Globalization, 1846-1896 (Cambridge University Press, 2016), is now available in paperback. His commentary on historical and contemporary global affairs has appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Australian, among others. He is co-director of the Global Economics and History Forum (History & Policy) and editor of the Imperial & Global Forum, the blog of Exeter's Centre for Imperial & Global History.
