Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management, University of Portsmouth

Margaret Mackay MSc HRM, BA Hons, FCIPD, FHEA is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth Business School and Course Leader for postgraduate human resources programmes. Margaret is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the British Academy of Management.

Margaret's professional experience includes strategic HR leadership positions with the HSBC Bank in Dubai and senior consultancy roles with the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, D.C., with diverse clients such as the U.S. Air Force. Before joining Portsmouth Business School, Margaret held management roles with the British Council in London and on international assignment in Colombia, Peru, Egypt and Spain.

Research interests include professional identity, reflective skills, leadership development and continuous learning. Margaret’s recent publications in top peer-reviewed journals of internationally acclaimed standards include: Studies in Higher Education, Professional Development in Education, Human Resource Development International, Journal of Education and Work, and Teaching in Higher Education.
