Maria Prokofieva

Dr Maria Prokofieva is a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University and Lead Data Scientist at Mitchell Institute. Her expertise is multi-disciplinary with extensive expertise in data science and ML/AI. Maria works in the area of business, education and cyberpsychology and focuses on data mining and machine learning applications to solve real-world problems.

Maria is actively involved in the development of open-source software globally. She leads RBusiness working group at R Consortium and is actively involved in other research development projects at the Linux Foundation.

Maria is a Fellow CPA Australia member and is actively involved in promoting data analytics and ML/AI applications for enhancing accounting and auditing practices. She is the Discussion Group Lead for Business Analytics at CPA Australia and is part of the CPA Australia Innovation and Technology Committee.
Maria is an Ambassador for the Women in Data Science initiative (WiDS), Stanford university. Her aim is to inspire and educate data science enthusiasts, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field of data science.
