Marie-Bénédicte Dembour

Professor of Law and Anthropology, University of Brighton

Marie-Bénédicte joined the Brighton Business School in September 2013. Her main role is to lead the research of the law subject group. She brings to it a vast and varied experience in conducting, attracting funding for and evaluating research projects. She is a keen teacher, and received in 2003 a teaching award from the University of Sussex where she was based from 1991-2013. Marie studied law at the Free University of Brussels (French-speaking side) and Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford. She has been a visiting scholar/tutor/Professor at various European institutions, including the University of Oxford, the Free University of Amsterdam, and the Free University of Brussels (Flemish side). She has been invited to deliver lectures throughout the world.
